Withdraw Your Resignation Letter! Gov. Amosun Orders Bimbo Ashiru
The Commissioner for Commerce and industry in Ogun State, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, who reportedly resigned his appointment earlier today, has been ordered to withdraw the letter immediately, a government house source informed Global Excellence magazine.
Otunba Ashiru, one of the longest commissioners in the government of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, the source said, was given the marching order this evening by the governor not too long after the exco meeting.
According to the source who was privy to the whole saga, Governor Amosun, it was, who allegedly gave his blessing to the decision of Ashiru to leave the government following his reported adoption as the consensus governorship candidate of Ijebu and Remo ahead of the 2019 general elections.
At an Ijebu Ode meeting, Ashiru was reported to have been endorsed to fly the flag of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 by the ‘Ijebu/Remo Governorship Agenda Elders Forum’ against other aspirants from other zones at the party’s primary.
Ashiru was said to have defeated Prince Segun Adesegun, former Deputy Governor; Senator Gbenga Kaka, former Senator who represented Ogun East at the 7th Assembly, and Senator Olorunmbe Momora, former Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, who were screened by Chief Olu Okuboyejo-led four-man committee.
Meanwhile, some hours after the exco meeting, regaled the source, the governor, who has not hidden his support for the popular ‘Yewa 2019’ agenda, called on the former commissioner to reverse his decision. The source added that the governor’s decision not to be seen as withdrawing his support for a Yewa candidate might have prompted him to ask Ashiru to back down.
