The police in Ogun State have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old man, Toheeb Quadri, in Sagamu area of the state.
Quadri, a generator repairer, was said to have been found dead inside a residential building in Atoyo area of Sagamu on Sunday.
New Telegraph learnt that the residence, where the corpse was discovered, belonged to one Kelechi.
Eye witnesses said the body of the deceased was discovered by members of his family after search about his whereabouts was unknown.
The property owner was almost lynched by angry mob when he allegedly feigned ignorance about the incident.
Kelechi was said to have denied knowledge of the deceased at any point in time and this further aggravated the situation, prompting the mob to vandalise his house.
The matter was subsequently reported at a nearby police station and the corpse evacuated to a hospital.
When contacted on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
Oyeyemi said the body of the deceased had already been deposited for autopsy.
He, however, stated that the matter had been transferred to the Homicide Section at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
