BAT is a Top Employer in 35 countries worldwide
This means BAT now has Top Employer certification in 35 countries in five regions around the world, following previous recognition in Asia Pacific and Africa.
Certification is given by the Top Employers Institute, which recognises leading employers around the world that excel in nurturing and developing talent at all levels, while striving to continuously optimise employment practices.
Participating companies must complete a stringent research process and meet the required high standards to achieve certification. To further reinforce the validity of the process, all submissions are independently audited.
David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, said: “British American Tobacco belongs to a very exclusive global community of Top Employers and has always been a company focused on attracting – and retaining – the best talent, offering excellent conditions and ensuring exciting career opportunities in its worldwide locations.”
BAT is the first tobacco company to be recognised as a regional Top Employer in Latin America, with certification in seven countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Paraguay.
José Martinez-Campos, BAT’s Regional Head of HR, Americas and Sub-Saharan Africa, said: “Being recognised is a huge honour and underlines our ongoing commitment to our people and their careers.”
Recognition in Europe represents the eighth consecutive time BAT has received the Top Employer seal in the region. The 16 markets where we were recognised in 2018 are: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Russia, Poland, Austria, Ukraine and Turkey.
Leif Lümkemann, BAT’s Regional Head of HR, Europe & North Africa, said: “The award recognises our world-class company culture, leading leadership practices and growth mindset – the key foundations of our transformation journey, across our European markets and beyond.”
We have also been recognised as a Top Employer in the Middle East for the first time, with certification in three countries: Iran, United Arab Emirates and Jordan.
Larisa Pay, BAT’s Middle East Area HR Director, said: “This is a truly historic moment for us and great that the work that has taken place over the last few years has been recognised. Our continuous focus on creating an open, inspiring and engaging environment has been key to our success.”
