Aare Ona Kakanfo: Title Is A Big Challenge, Alake Tells Gani Adams
The Alake of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on Friday tasked the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Dr Gani Adams, over the enormity of the responsibilities of his new title,just as he submitted that the position is a big challenge.
Oba Gbadebo who is celebrating his 12th year on the throne made the submissions in his palace during a courtesy call on him by the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate.
Thanking the Monarch for his love , Gani Adams said he was in the palace first to thank the Oba for his support over his new title as the Aare Ona Kakanfo and to inform him about the World Congress of Yorubas in the diaspora, the Odua People’s Union world congress taking place in Abeokuta in January next year.
He informed the would be host of the congress of the group that exist in 78 countries of the world ,that Lagos was the host of the congress about three years ago, followed by the Ooni Of Ife who was the host last year with the Alaafin of Oyo as the latest host.
Responding, the Alake of Egba land said he was happy for the visit of the Generalissimo of Yoruba land, especially, with the visit coming when he is marking his 12th year on the throne of his forefathers.
While congratulating the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate over his new title, Oba Gbadebo said Adams should see his appointment as a big challenge especially, because of the challenges facing the Yoruba race at the moment.
He insisted that Yoruba is not a tribe as being erroneously reffered, but a race, which he said, needed to regain its place within the country Nigeria.
The Alake of Egba land said by virtue of Adams new position, he has so much to do to restore the race to its true position.
The Oba, in company with his council of Chiefs and many other traditional rulers present with him, prayed for the Aare Ona Kakanfo’s success and charged him not to lag behind in the new challenge.
